Inviting a new puppy or kitten into your life is one of the most exciting and challenging times in your life. It is best to bring your new friend to the clinic within a few days of joining your family. That way, we can screen for any potential problems and begin treatment.

Our doctors place great emphasis on regular physical examinations. They feel that this is the single best way to ensure the wellness of your pet. Our puppy and kitten services emphasize early detection and wellness by providing up to four visits with the doctor. Visits are scheduled 3 weeks apart. These visits help us address health issues early and answer any questions or concerns that you have or that may develop.

A very important aspect of puppy and kitten care is parasite screening and prevention. Many young animals are infected with intestinal worms. Fecal tests and deworming are important aspects of caring for them. Most intestinal parasites are contagious to people. It is very important to treat them properly.

Early in your pet’s life is the best time to discuss appropriate preventive medications for heartworms, fleas, ticks, and intestinal parasites with our doctors. We’ll help you get your new pet off to a great start for a long, healthy, happy life.
